The Cat Dress

For my husband Jeffrey’s birthday we went to Columbus, Ohio to see a band called Die Antward. Columbus has one of my favorite sewing shops Sew to Speak. I got to stop in for just a few minutes before they closed.

This is me at that show in my gold dress I fashioned for a Designer Modcloth completion in 2011. Gold was not in yet nor was the flapper style I designed. I was told it was not Modcloth style.

Here are the two fabrics I chose. Both Alexander Henry Fabrics. I am a huge fan of large, fun and loud prints. They are like a fun puzzle to me.

Amber our intern also loves to sew a lot. She knows the value of something handmade, the time, skill and work involved.

This is Amber in Colette Pattern's Walden shirt she made herself and embroidered.

This dress was a surprise gift to her for interning that all summer at Sew Dayton. Her and I both share a great love for anything with a cat on it. When I gave her the dress backstage before the fashion show she looked like she was going to cry.

Behind the scenes- This is Amber walking the runway for Ladyfest Dayton and helping just before backstage. We are so proud of her always willing to lend a hand. She told me after the show she was going to wear the dress I made her to her high school homecoming dance.
