The Hermoine inspired dress, 2012 Sew Dayton, our little fabric shop had just opened. I was still doing custom garments on my etsy page as the two jobs overlapped. A lady contacted me on etsy and asked if I could please make her 4 year old daughter a dress inspired by the movie Harry Potter, Hermione. She sent me this picture.
First I had her approve my drawing. My sewing is much better that my art although this is the best way to get all the details and to make sure the customer and I are on the same page.
Then to pick out all of the supplies. This is the fun part! I used an old Cinderella princess gown pattern for the base of the design.
Next to figure out all that dramatic piecing. I decided to make everything larger and make reverse pin tucks to give the illusion of piecing. It worked!!!
Next to put it all together and add those sleeves! This was not an easy dress!
Next to add all the sheer chiffon ruffle flounces.
What an amazing gift for a little girl.
