My very first white dress was a replica from the 1977 movie Star Wars, Episode 5, A New Hope. The Princess Leia formal gown is more formal and made more like her real dress.
The thing most people do not know is that there were two white dresses Carrie Fisher wore. I discovered it when my first customer gave me her printed pictures of Princess Leia, materials and patterns.
These are the two photos I received. You can clearly see even the material doesn’t drape the same. The costume you buy online looks nothing like this and has white boots.\n\nI used 2 under stitched layers of chiffon for the shell of the dress, a Simplicity Patterns Greek Goddess Halloween Costume and I draped those amazing sleeves.
I made a few of these for custom orders on etsy for a couple of years before I decided this dress is really hard to make and too time consuming. Honestly and don’t hate me or this, I think Episode 1, 2, and 3 had cooler costumes.
Behind the scenes- This is my brother and I when we were Wookies for Halloween 1977.
