I saw the most beautiful butterfly dress online and it got me thinking, could I make one like no other. After hours of researching I found a fabric designer on Spoonflower that made large scale butterfly prints. I started saving my dollars, seeing who else made butterfly dresses and researching the design I thought the scale of the print would fit. I ordered 3 yards of modern jersey knit.
Two weeks later my knit, butterfly fabric arrived and I started researching the Kaftan. I knew that was the best direction to go in without cutting it all up in pieces. There were so many wonderful butterfly dresses out there to study. I highly recommend look some of them up.
I made the hood really large so it would drape nicely and then I lined the knit.
We also can teach you how to make this dress at Sew Dayton. It’s easy to book a lesson online and bring your supplies and we will guide you to success.
I bought my fabric on Spoonflower from Bonnie Phantasm. I chose the modern knit and I used 3 yards.
Thank you so much for reading my blog. I hope I inspired you to make cool things.
