Do you want help designing your own clothing or want something special made? I can do it! I have been making vintage-inspired custom order dresses for people for over a decade. All seams are professionally sewn and tailored just for you.
Here’s how it works: Sizing for sewing is not the same as sizing for ready-made clothing. I will need you to go to a seamstress, or come to me if you are local, and get measured. I will need your bust, waist, hips and height for a basic dress. More complex dresses may need more measurements.
I want to make sure you get exactly what you want, so you pick, buy and ship me your selected fabrics. Below are links to online fabric shops that will mail the fabric directly to me. Once I receive the fabric I will email you confirmation of your correct measurements and exact details about what I will be making for you. We rely on communication to match you with your perfect garment so this is important.
Turn around time usually depends on the season. Wedding season (April – June & September/October) can be really busy and may require a 6 week turn-around. Most dresses, from time of payment and receiving the fabric, take 2-3 weeks depending on current work load. I will let you know how long it will take to create your custom-made clothing at the time of order.
I have a simple contract for you to review, sign, and pay a deposit.

When building your garment there are a lot of things to consider. The world of color and fabric is at your finger tips. Pick colors and fabrics that support your lifestyle, personal taste and that you connect with. Keep in mind what colors look best on you and that fabric prints don’t look the same from afar as they may look up close (green and purple stripes look brown from a distance). Remember when you begin building your color theme it is much like decorating a room or painting a scene, do not be afraid ask a professional to help you find something that you love. You can be, bright and stylish, playful with color, modern vintage mixup, simple and modern, cool with low key tones, rustic, edgy, traditionally elegant or casually cool. It’s your body to celebrate!
Buying your fabric can be tricky, I totally understand this. Once we agree on the pattern I will let you know the suitable fabrics and how much you will need. You can order fabric online and have it shipped directly to me.
Here is some extra sizing info I’ve picked up from sizing history in the world of garment making. Big Box pattern sizing has remained the same since 1972. These patterns include brands like Simplicity, Butterwick, McCalls, Vogue, Kwik Sew and New Look. These patterns have not been vanity sized to todays ready made clothing. In 1972 there was no size zero, let alone “000.” Big Box patterns have been set to a size standard that is regulated by a few specific measurements of the body and start at 8. This is why we must have accurate measurements to make your garment fit correctly. Big Box patterns give exact finished measurements and traditional sewing methods are generally used.
Indie patterns can be quite different in sizing. Some sizing may very as these patterns are made by real designers and have no “set” sizing standard. With Indie patterns we must go by measurements as well. Indie patterns can have sizes from 0-24. They give us the wonderful opportunity to shop independent from real people and the chance to learn new techniques. I love both Indie patterns and Big Box patterns alike.
Cotton Dresses start at $200
