Mirror Mirror examines contemporary women artists who focus on issues of identity – as a woman\, artist\, mother\, wife\, and/or daughter. The panel will explore ideas of empowering women leaders\, how women’s identity may or may not be tied into their career\, and how women live and work in creative fields.\nI was invited as someone who has navigated a successful career in sewing (from Sew Dayton\, to classes\, blog\, and your current Studio)\, is an active community member and leader (Dayton Garment Designers Meet Up\, Kettering Leadership Academy\, and Kettering Arts Council)\, and is a partner and parent.\nI’m a little nervous but this should be a fun interactive event. Doors open at 6pm. Free and open to the public.

In our 4 week workshop you will learn hands on while making all the basics of sewing\, from threading your machine to a completed garment.  \nWeek 1- Sewing machine basics refresher while making a make up bag/ zipper pouch. This lined little bag will get you more comfortable with your machine. \nWeek 2- Pattern Reading and Layout\, we will be learning hands on all the pattern symbols\, sizing\, taking proper measurements and starting to cut out our (adult or children’s) pants or shorts. Patterns will no longer be an unsolved mystery. \nWeek 3- Recap on layout\, checking our work\, discussing marking tools\, starting to sew the base of our PJ pants. \nWeek 4- All about finishing techniques\, hemming\, elastic\, elastic casings and finishing our pants.
